About

The Golden Lane in Prague offers a vibrant glimpse into medieval life within the towering Prague Castle. Designed with Gothic flair by Peter Parler, this narrow street captivates visitors with its colorful, miniature houses, each telling a unique historical story. Explore House #22, where Franz Kafka once found inspiration, or visit the enchanting Herbalist's House and feel transported to an old-world apothecary.

Step inside various homes to witness centuries-old living spaces, and don't miss the Alchemist Chamber and Torture Rooms for a deeper dive into the fortress's rich history. Quaint shops line the lane, offering local crafts, medieval weapons, and unique memorabilia, making it a perfect spot for both history buffs and casual visitors alike.

Children will find The Golden Lane both educational and entertaining, while adults can appreciate the cultural heritage encapsulated in this charming attraction. Opt for an early morning visit to avoid the crowds and experience the lane's ambiance at its best. Admission requires a combo ticket with Prague Castle, but enjoy free entry after 4 pm, even if the houses themselves may be closed.

Warto wejść i zobaczyć domki w środku i wystawy wewnątrz. Warto było choć ludzi bardzo dużo.

This narrow street between the White Tower and the Daliborka Tower is lined with colorful houses that look like they came straight out of a fairy tale. These houses were built within the castle fortifications around the end of the 16th century and remained inhabited until World War II. Golden Lane acquired its current appearance in 1955, and after a recent large-scale restoration, the houses now house exhibits telling about life on this street over the past 500 years. Franz Kafka lived and worked at number 22 from 1916 to 1917.

Interesting place to visit, feeling like at medieval times. Hard to walk with stroller (but this is common in Prague)
