About

Albrecht von Wallenstein was a great general, an ally of King Ferdinand II, and a man of boundless ambition. At one time, he aimed to seize the Bohemian crown, which ultimately cost him his life in 1634. However, in the memory of the Czech people, Wallenstein is more remembered as a figure in whose honor a magnificent palace complex was erected, complete with a stunningly beautiful park area.

Today, about eighty members of the Czech Senate reside in the Wallenstein Palace, along with their support staff.

Tourists are granted access only to certain structures of the palace complex and to the park itself. In the open area, adorned with well-maintained trees, bushes, and flowers, more than ten peacocks roam, among them albino birds. Numerous interesting sculptures are placed throughout, and ancient fountains operate, in which live fish swim.
