About
The Latin Quarter owes its name to the students of the Sorbonne University, who lived in houses close to their alma mater and regularly practiced Latin. Nowadays, the quarter is famous for its collection of the finest cafes and ancient architecture. It still hosts one of the Sorbonne's buildings and several other universities. Thus, the Latin Quarter remains a center for education, architecture, and tourism in the city. Its narrow streets retain their history and invariably delight tourists with that unique atmosphere characteristic of ancient homes.
