About

Odessa's port, like many of the city's interesting attractions, is unique and unparalleled. The reason for its uniqueness is its location on an artificial embankment. Essentially, one could say that the port has taken a part of its space from the sea. However, this measure was necessary since the natural coastlines in this area of the city are made up of thirty-meter cliffs.

Throughout its history, the seaport has had a significant impact on the development and operation of Odessa. For example, during the Second World War, it was almost completely destroyed by German-Romanian forces, but even in these difficult times under constant bombing, it continued to receive and send ships.

The modern Odessa Port is a nine-kilometer-long line with 54 cargo berths and seven harbors. It welcomes around 4 million passengers annually, as well as dry and liquid cargoes totaling approximately 46 million tons.
