About

The Black House is an impressive example of Renaissance residential architecture that has long become a hallmark of the city. Built at the end of the 16th century, it has evolved from a pharmacy to a museum. Architects over time have added two more floors to the building to enhance it. The dark color of the Black House was initially a result of precipitation effects on sandstone - the material from which the building is constructed. The house has since retained its shade. The museum exhibition located here is dedicated to the history of Ukraine's liberation struggle, as well as the history of the Ukrainian diaspora.
