Logroño

Start your walk in the Spanish city of Logroño at the Casa de las Ciencias museum. The science center's exhibits introduce various fields of research, from astronomy to archaeology. Cross the Ebro River via the Stone or Iron Bridge and embark on a journey through the narrow medieval streets of the Old Town. At the Santiago el Real church, take note of the pavement: it features a board for the famous Game of the Goose. Nearby are the powerful stone towers of El Cubo del Revellín – part of a 16th-century fortress.

The ultra-modern Centro de la Cultura del Rioja hosts interesting exhibitions. Nearby, you'll find the 12th-century Santa María de Palacio church, to which the king donated his own palace. San Bartolomé Church attracts tourists with its stone bas-reliefs and the observation deck on the bell tower. The city's main church is the Concatedral de Santa María de la Redonda, with its magnificent altar. The cathedral's two tall twin towers rise above the Market Square.

Many tourists begin their acquaintance with the capital of the wine-making region, La Rioja, by visiting tasting rooms and wine cellars. Tours are held at the bodegas (wineries) of Marqués de Murrieta, Franco-Españolas, Ontañón, Marqués de Vargas, Campo Viejo, and Viña Ijalba. In the center of Logroño, indulge in a tapas tasting: each bar offers its own version.
