León

To fully immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the Middle Ages, follow the path of 14th-century pilgrims from Puerta Moneda towards the cathedral. Make a stop at the Town Hall on Plaza Mayor. Pass the towering fortress towers and reach Plasa Puerto Obispo. On the left, you'll find León's main attraction: the 12th-century Gothic cathedral with its high towers and unique stained glass windows. Be sure to enter the cathedral's courtyard to admire the sculptures and frescoes.

On the neighboring street, take a picture by the grand facade of Palacio de Renedo Valdetuéjar. Walk along Av de los Cubos next to the mighty Roman walls until you reach the arch at the fortress entrance. Rest in San Martino Square and head towards the Basilica San Isidoro, built in the 11th century. Nearby, you'll find the Panteón Real, known for its magnificent frescoes. Stroll along the park to Casa Botines, Gaudí's neo-Gothic creation. Spend the evening in one of the many tapas bars in Barrio Húmedo, as the locals call the historic center.

Plaza de Santo Domingo, with its fountain, unofficially divides León into the medieval part and the new quarters with trendy boutiques and restaurants. Walk along the shopping streets to the Roman bridge. Admire the facade of one of León's most beautiful buildings, the Convento de San Marcos. Visit exhibitions at the MUSAC contemporary art museum.
