About

"Auschwitz-Birkenau, the death camp, represents a dark and soot-black page in human history, also known to many as Auschwitz. Over a million people lost their lives and were tortured to death here, forever etching this place in memory. And many more than a million "in the know" or related to the shocking details of the bloody war, flock and converge here, notwithstanding the countless kilometers and arduous journey. In grim memory and as an eternal reminder, a museum was founded here in 1947, expanding the UNESCO heritage list. The unique everyday life of the prisoners and horrific evidence of Nazi atrocities are still presented to the astonished public. Seeing this place is worth at least once - the moment remains in memory like a fresh scar.

Auschwitz is located just 60 km from Krakow, which can be reached directly by bus.
