About

The House of the Weeping Widow was built in 1908. This Art Nouveau building was the home of the 2nd guild merchant Sergey Arshavsky, as indicated by the monogram above the door "SA". After the advent of Soviet power, the house was nationalized and transferred to the management of the Federation of Foreign Groups under the Central Committee of the RCP(b). With the arrival of independence, the building gained a new status - it became one of the official residences of the President of Ukraine. Both the architecture and the decoration of the house are very beautiful. The construction used five different materials, which created a perfect combination. The decorative design holds a special place, which, by all accounts of those who have visited the house, is simultaneously enchanting, somber, and mysterious.
