Cattedrale Di San Lorenzo in Genoa stands as a testament to the city's rich architectural tapestry, showcasing an intriguing blend of Gothic, Romanesque, and Baroque styles. This cathedral, opened in 1098, enchants visitors not only with its stunning design but also with its historical significance. Stone lions with characteristically sad expressions guard the entrance, setting the scene for the treasures inside. Among its artworks are masterpieces by renowned artists, further enhancing the cathedral's allure.
Visitors can explore this marvel for just €5, which includes the opportunity to view its nave from a unique balcony. Take a moment to glance above for an incredible rooftop perspective of Genoa. Although card payments are accepted, having cash on hand might save you time. One notable historic feature is an unexploded bomb from World War II, a silent witness to the past. Keep an eye out for the subtly placed sculpture of a tiny dog, a whimsical detail amidst the grandeur.
