Genoa

The Ligurian Sea is the first to greet tourists in Genoa. Right on the shore in the center of the bay are the international airport and sea ports. It's only 500 meters from the Central train station to the ferry terminal.

Seeing the most beautiful sights of Genoa is easy. Take a walk along the pedestrian Via Garibaldi, the legendary "Golden Street" with its majestic palazzi of the Genoese nobility. Admire the beauty of the buildings around the fountain in Piazza De Ferrari. Visit an exhibition at the Palazzo Ducale. Capture photos in front of the house of Christopher Columbus. Exploring the historic center is incomplete without checking out the "caruggi" — a maze of narrow streets between tall old mansions.

After large-scale restoration, Porto Antico has become a favorite relaxation spot for both residents and tourists in Genoa. The Maritime Museum surprises with its collection of cannons, life-size boats, and submarine S518 Nazario Sauro. The Aquarium even has whales, and the Biosphere hosts a tropical garden with butterflies.

The panoramic elevator Bigo and ferris wheel offer magnificent views of the bay, the port, and the city's symbol, La Lanterne lighthouse. For the most beautiful panoramic shots of the city, head to the Castelletto area or the park with cascading fountains, Villetta Di Negro.

Genoa's cafes and restaurants offer the chance to try the meat sauce "tocco" and "pansotti" — a local variation of ravioli with wild herbs. Iconic street food includes fried anchovies, focaccia, and its stuffed variation, Focaccia di Recco.

Genoa is the center of the Ligurian Riviera resort coast. Resort towns with beautiful beaches, hotels, and yacht clubs stretch for 60 km to the east and west of the city. The best spots for seaside walks are the Corso and Anita Garibaldi promenades, as well as the promenade in Nervi Park. Summer festivals in Rapallo, Recco, and Camogli are popular.

Genoa's airport receives international flights from 9 airlines, including low-cost carriers Ryanair and WizzAir. Ferries connect tourists to the islands of Italy, Tunisia, Morocco, and Spain.
