About
When the final day arrives, the four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, astride their steeds, will gallop across the world, sowing chaos and destruction, as prophesied in the Revelation of John the Theologian. Until then, the sculptures of the conquerors, frozen in metal, attract the gazes of tourists wandering through Arentshof square like a magnet.
Each of the four Horsemen is placed on a stone pedestal, amid ancient trees and shrubs, symbolizing "evergreen" life. According to various interpretations, the characters created by sculptor Rick Poot are named Death, War, Plague, and Famine. Each sculpture is executed in an unusual and frightening style-horses and riders are molded from individual sheets of metal, resembling bodies of humans and animals that have decayed over thousands of years.
