About

In the very heart of Bruges, near the Cathedral, lies the Church of Our Lady, whose age reaches eight centuries. The Gothic building captivates the eye with its unique architecture, standing out against the surrounding buildings.

The Church of Our Lady is also referred to as Bruges's Notre Dame, hiding within its walls a marble statue of the Madonna by the great Michelangelo. The church rises to a height of 123 meters, its dome crowned with a pointed spire. The interior is executed in a mixed style, intertwining the proud spirit of Romanesque and the cold passion of Gothic. Interestingly, even the bleak times of occupation and fires could not harm the sanctuary, which rose from the ashes like a Phoenix, and was even purchased by the townspeople at an auction.

Unglaublich Eindrucksvolle Kathedrale.
