About

The Hospital of Saint John is not without reason called the oldest medical institution in Europe. Back in the twelfth century, Augustinian monks treated pilgrims and the impoverished residents here. Today, the hospital continues its work, constantly welcoming crowds of tourists from all over the world who wish to see this unique historical monument with their own eyes.

The medieval building has its own chapel, which houses the Hans Memling Museum. The five most significant paintings by the master and the "Shrine of St. Ursula" make the museum one of the most popular not only in Bruges but also throughout Belgium. The interior of the Hospital of Saint John is done in a Gothic style, which at first glance seems grim and cold.

An jeder Ecke bekommt man immer wieder was neues zu sehen, einfach toll!!!
