Западен Берлин е разделен от Демократична Германия с бетонна ограда с височина над три метра, преплетена с бодлива тел, дълга около 160 км, която стои 28 години, разделяйки германския народ на две държави. През ноември 1989 г., след като граничният режим между ФРГ и ГДР е опростен, Берлинската стена престава да бъде символ на разделението на страната.Тук са запазена няколко фрагмента от нея като с времето се е превърнала в арт инсталация на която са залепени множество дъвки.
