Church of Santa Maria del Mar in Barcelona
About
The Church of Santa Maria del Mar can confidently be called the Gothic symbol of Catalonia. It was built in a relatively short time through donations from sailors and merchant guilds.
The ending "del Mar" in the name indicates the maritime origin of the church, which has a simple explanation - the decision to erect this architectural marvel was made after the victory in Sardinia as a praise to heaven. The interior of the Catholic sanctuary corresponds to the original Gothic style. Flanking the entrance, visitors are greeted by statues of Peter and Paul, and a little further in, Jesus Christ sits on the throne alongside the Virgin Mary and John the Baptist. Santa Maria del Mar has excellent acoustics, so besides religious services, concerts are often held here.

A really beautiful church. Not much decoration and because of this it's more beautiful. A quiet place.

Merece la pena la visita, pero no pagar la entrada completa. Con la entrada sencilla, te da acceso a lo mismo. Una vez dentro no hay nadie controlando lo que ves ni a donde accedes
