About

The Tekeli Mehmet Pasha Mosque appeared in Antalya in the eighteenth century, initiated and financed by the governor. Finding the mosque is easy - one should look for the clock tower, near which the sanctuary resides.

Tekeli is famous throughout Turkey for its calligraphic inscriptions, which brightly ribbon around the entire building. The mosque has undergone reconstruction several times, but these inscriptions have always remained untouched, which faithful Muslims see as a mark of Allah's favor. The central dome of Tekeli rests on three semi-domes to the east, south, and west, as well as on three more from the northern side. All panels of the ancient mosque are complemented with verses and quotes from the Quran.
