About

Not all monuments stand tall on high pedestals made of granite and marble - many of them have long become part of cozy streets, wide avenues, and squares, continuing to hold their own story.

Quite accidentally, among other benches, opposite the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, one can notice a bronze bench with a leaned guitar: this structure was erected in memory of Vytautas Kernagis - a famous poet and musician of Lithuania.

The sculpture corresponds to his creative image: the "Guitar" monument can't boast the gleam of gilding or expensive cladding - the bench has become a haven for street musicians and a tribute of respect to the great figure of culture and art. The sculpture was installed in 2011 with the funds from the Kernagis Foundation, and since then, it has become a landmark of Gediminas Avenue.
