About

When a poor man fell in love with a girl from a wealthy and respected family, the father, as usual, opposed such a match and punished the young man by first demanding he build a house in the very center of the city before he could propose to his daughter. The house was built at Alter Markt 109, true, it was only one and a half meters wide, but it boasted a neat roof, threshold, and even an entrance door with stone alcoves. Who ended up marrying whom and whether there was a wedding at all remains a mystery, but the house survived many a troubled century and became a beloved spot for all romantic couples, both visitors and locals alike. By the way, the entrance still proudly displays a stone inscription about the house's creator, as the first man in Austria who dared to commit a little trick for a great love.
