The Latvian National Opera is located in one of the most beautiful parks of the capital, near the City Canal promenade. It's simply impossible to confuse the opera and ballet building with anything else - the snow-white and majestic columns attract the attention of anyone who has even a slight appreciation for true art. Near the entrance, guests of the cultural establishment are greeted by an unusual sculpture depicting the famous Maris Liepa. The interior of the theater is miniature, with narrow hallways, reminiscent of an old hotel, which is not something you can say about the auditorium, which is literally drowning in luxury. Interestingly, most of the velvet-upholstered chairs have gold-plated plaques with the names of patrons. The theater building also hosts the annual Riga Opera Festival, which attracts many visitors and tourists from all over Europe.

Always excellent performances. If you enjoy opera or ballet you won't be disappointed.

The performances here are truly incredible. The opera building is beautiful and historical. My only issue is that as a foreigner without a Latvian bank account, it is very difficult to purchase tickets - we had the needed amount and the correct details, but 3 times in a row were declined. Furthermore, the subtitle placement is really unfortunate. I wish they could be more visible from different seats. Maybe there need to be two subtitle screens, one on either side of the stage?
