About

The Russian Theatre holds an honorable place in one of the historical buildings of Old Riga and is named after Mikhail Chekhov. Furthermore, the Russian Theatre is considered the oldest cultural institution located outside of Russia.

Over the many years of its existence in the capital of Latvia, the theatre has frequently changed its repertoire direction, adapting to various times. Today, its repertoire includes not only Russian and world classics but also works by quite young playwrights from Riga and other cities. The establishment has two traditional stages, on which children's performances and musical sketches are often staged. The theatre company frequently participates in touring and world-class competitions.
