Strahov Monastery in Prague
About
Nothing is known about the history of the Strahov Monastery until the year 1143. After that, it became the residence of the Premonstratensians and since then, the shrine entered a period of prosperity, quickly becoming a center of intellectual and spiritual life. Within just fifty years, most of the wooden buildings were replaced with stone structures in the Romanesque style, and by the end of the year 1258, the monastery had acquired a Gothic style. This golden period for the Strahov Monastery lasted until 1420 when it was plundered by the Hussites.
Following this, the religious community faced difficult times: the bastion of faith periodically fell into decline and then revived. It survived the Thirty Years' War and the artillery bombardments by the French.
To this day, most of the buildings, including the Strahov Library, have been preserved in a reconstructed form, which is why the Baroque style predominates in their design.

Beautiful library but in m opinion 7 Euros might be a bit expensive for the entry

Parkování doporučuji v bočních ulicích nedaleko kláštera a dojít pěšky.
