La Basilica di San Giacomo è una grande basilica a tre navate con un lungo e alto presbiterio ed è il terzo edificio più lungo di Praga. Originariamente venne edificata nel 1232 ma fu distrutta da un incendio nel 1686 dai francesi invasori e ricostruita nel suo attuale stile barocco nel XVIII secolo. È abbastanza facile da trovare nella Città Vecchia, essendo a metà strada tra la Piazza della Città Vecchia e la Piazza a Náměstí Republiky ed è a circa cinque minuti a piedi da entrambe. Il soffitto è particolarmente impressionante, ma alcuni dei dipinti e sculture che adornano i venti più altari sono altrettanti sorprendenti. Lo sfarzo barocco è impressionante: le navate laterali, l'altare, l'organo, tutto è un tripudio di arte barocca. Due i "pezzi forti" della chiesa: all'ingresso, appesa al muro, la mano mummificata di un ladro che, redentosi aveva trovato impiego come custode della chiesa stessa; la tomba del "non morto" che ricorda vagamente la Pietà di San Pietro. La visita è gratuita.
