About

The Saint-Jacques Tower significantly stands out among the surrounding architecture. Once a part of the Saint-Jacques-de-la-Boucherie church, it now stands as a solitary tower amidst lower buildings. In 1797, during the French Revolution, the church was dismantled to make way for residential buildings. The tower survived solely because it was purchased by one of the Parisian masters, who used the building as a workshop for casting hunting shot. At the end of the last century, the fifty-two-meter structure was used as a weather station, and it was only in 2013 that the tower was opened to visitors.
