About
Hotel de Ville is a magnificent complex of buildings, created through the combination of two styles - Italian Renaissance and French Gothic. In 1871, the building was set on fire, however, later the city authorities ordered its complete restoration, which architects successfully accomplished. The beauty of Hotel de Ville attracts thousands of tourists annually, who wish to admire its unparalleled architecture. Another reason for its popularity is the fact that the building is located on the site where, during the times of the monarchy, the Place de Grève - a place of execution - was situated.
