About

Unique both in its history and cultural significance, the Plague Column (also known as the Holy Trinity and Virgin Mary Column) is an attractive destination for thousands of tourists. This monument stands as the sole memorial of the time when Europe was ravaged by the plague. However, unlike others, it does not mourn the deceased but instead praises the fact that the city was completely spared. This is why the faces of the saints on the pedestal express joy rather than sorrow. The Plague Column has been recognized as a UNESCO heritage, which further accentuates its value.
