The Doge's Palace is located on St. Mark's Square in Venice. The original building was destroyed by fire in the year 976. It acquired its present appearance in the 15th century. To many seeing the Doge's Palace for the first time, it may seem as though it is turned upside down, with its foundation on top. This impression is created by the shape of the facade: at the bottom, there are light, lacy arches, above which a huge solid wall is placed. The palace itself has a T-shaped form and is three stories high. White, grey, and pink marble were used for its construction. On the southern facade, there is a balcony that once served as a podium for the Doge. The grand Porta della Carta gate leads to the palace, behind which lies a courtyard surrounded by two-tier marble arcades and sculptures. The most interesting room inside the palace is considered to be the Hall of Maps, on the walls of which hang paintings by famous Italian masters.

Дворец дожей – совершенно потрясающее строение, от вида которого захватывает дух. Фасад здания напомнил мне кружева тончайшей работы. Просто не верится, что такую красоту смогли возвести несколько столетий назад. Внутри дворца понравилось, как оформили потолок над лестничными пролетами. Дам совет: приходите посмотреть на строение рано утром, когда около него еще не собрались толпы туристов.
