On the southern shore of the Grand Canal, the Gallery of the Academy building is located. The museum was founded in 1750, thanks to the efforts of the artist Giovanni Battista Piazzetta. Initially, the gallery not only exhibited paintings by masters but also taught sculpture and painting. At the beginning of the 19th century, thanks to Napoleon, the Academy gallery's collection was significantly enriched with paintings and icons from dissolved monasteries. The museum building itself does not boast large dimensions, however, it houses a total of 25 rooms, each of which displays collections of the most precious canvases by Venetian masters. For instance, the first room is entirely dedicated to Gothic and Byzantine art. Of course, there are also rooms dedicated to the Renaissance and Baroque periods. Here, the canvas "The Sacred Conversation," which depicts the Madonna with saints, and Veronese's painting "The Feast in the House of Levi," which occupies an entire wall, deserve special attention.

Da visitare un edificio enorme con altissimi soffitti, opere molto belle di pittori veneti. Prendetevi del tempo in quanto la visita è bella lunga, molte le opere d' arte. Un altro sito di Venezia da non perdere. Vale tutto il tempo che serve.
