Prague Main Railway Station
Über
Prague Central Station is the capital's and the entire Czech Republic's most important railway artery. It connects the country with major cities across the continent.
The station, originally named after Franz Joseph I, was opened in 1871. Thirty years later, the old station was complemented by an architectural masterpiece in the Neo-Renaissance style by I. Fanta, which was called the New Station. From 1948 to 1953, the station was named after American President W. Wilson, whose statue was erected in a park alley near the station.
Until 2006, Prague's main station had seen better days until an Italian developer took over its modernization.
For passengers' convenience, there are several restaurants, showers, toilets, a currency exchange point, ATMs, pharmacies, luggage and bicycle storage facilities, shops, and a Billa supermarket.
