Holocaust Memorial Center in Budapest
About
The Holocaust Memorial Center in Budapest is dedicated to all victims of the Jewish genocide during World War II. This unique structure reflects the horrific scenes of mass murders and repression, paying tribute to each individual who perished.
The center includes an ancient synagogue, numerous archives, and a large exhibition hall that houses documented evidence of the atrocities committed against the Jewish population of the Hungarian capital.
In the museum courtyard, there is a "Weeping Willow" monument, on the leaves of which the names and surnames of men, women, and children who died prematurely are inscribed. The memorial complex also includes a monument with dozens of pairs of shoes along the Danube Riverbank.

We were staying just a few minutes walk away from this museum but would have visited anyway. Very worth a couple hours and reasonable entry fee. I would only suggest a little investment in the audio which was not working and some new headphones. Museum was bigger than expected and had many historical stories

Nicely organized exhibit with the connection to the synagogue. Tragic history told visually.
