Amphitheatrum in Budapest's District III is a captivating attraction that offers a glimpse into the grandeur of the Roman era. This historical marvel, with an arena part larger than even the Colosseum in Rome, stands as a testament to ancient architectural prowess. Visitors can enjoy its family-friendly atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for both adults and children. Every September, it transforms into a vibrant scene during Amfifest, where participants don Roman attire, bringing history to life. This is a marvelous memento of the roman age in the middle of District III. of Budapest, surrounded by modern buildings and streets with bustling car traffic. The arena part of this building (the actual grounds, were the fights took place) is even larger than that of the Colosseum in Rome. However, the seats were not nearly as numerous and the walls lower, and most of them were dissasembled through the ages. The place is free to visit anytime, but the most interesting time to see it is during 'Amfifest', an event usually held some time in the second half of september, when traditionalists flood the place bringing back the clothes, garments and accessories of the antiquity, dressed up as roman legionaires, german invadors, sarmata local dvellers of Pannonia, emperors and gladiators, slaves and roman patrician families. I am sharing here a video which was made during a concert as a closing etude of 2025's Amfifest.
