About

The Congress Column was erected by the genius hands of Pular himself in honor of the adopted Constitution of Belgium. This monument is located right in the heart of the capital and is clearly visible to the naked eye from almost anywhere in the city.

The top of the landmark is adorned with a statue of King Leopold, who, according to rumors, laid the first stone during the construction of the column. By the way, the height of the structure reaches 49 meters, and it is "guarded" by two bronze lions. The Congress Column is also decorated with four equally cast bronze statues weighing about one and a half tons each, symbolizing Freedom of the Press, Education, Religion, and Associations.

Eine schöne und vor allem sehr bedeutende Säule, die etwas vom Zentrum entfernt ist und fast nicht besucht ist.

Monument to the memory of signing the first constitution of Belgium. Tall for nearly 40m, shame that there are not any benches nearby to rest after the walk
