About

The Columbus Monument, located at Porta de la Pau square near the popular La Rambla boulevard, can without exaggeration be called the most prominent landmark of Barcelona. The monument towers over the city's center and the historic port, where Columbus returned after his famous voyage.

The monument reaches a height of sixty meters and consists of three parts. The base, with two pairs of stairs, is always filled with tourists and locals who come here to relax and take photos. The octagonal pedestal with symbolic representations of Catalonia, León, Aragon, and Castile smoothly transitions into a seven-meter statue of Columbus himself. At the very top of the monument, there is a miniature observation deck, which can be accessed using a similarly compact elevator.

To nie tylko hołd dla odkrywcy, ale pomnik europejskiej potęgi! Figura z mapami w dłoni i wzrokiem skierowanym na horyzont upamiętnia kluczowy moment: powrót Kolumba do Hiszpanii z wieścią o 'Nowym Świecie'. Kamień mówi tu więcej niż książki.
