2025 Historical Buildings

Casa Batlló symbolizes Saint George's victory over the dragon, whose remains have astonishingly found their place on the building's walls. This iconic structure appeared on the map of Barcelona thanks to Gaudí, who transformed the House of Bones into a new symbolic form.

Despite its daunting past, the house turned out to be more enchanting than frightening. The undulating curves of the floors and the smooth lines of the cornices might remind one of a giant serpent from afar, coiling and ready to deliver a crushing blow. A particular resemblance to the defeated dragon can be seen in the so-called "ridge," covered in small, colorful scales, which runs through the entire Casa Batlló and touches the attic.
