About

The ancient city of Termessos has a very unusual location, which helped it withstand long sieges and repel attacks for many centuries. The city is squeezed between two mountain ranges at an altitude of 1000 meters above sea level.

Alexander the Great, after an unsuccessful attempt to capture Termessos, called it the nest of a wild eagle. Conquering the city was difficult not only because of its inaccessibility - in the rocks, in case of an attack, deep reservoirs with fresh water were carved, thanks to which any siege was rendered futile and only exhausted the attackers. The main attraction of Termessos is its ancient theater, whose auditorium is situated in the rocks.
