The Aspendos Amphitheater is called the "Turkish old man and sage" for its venerable age, equal to that of the city after which it was named. It is said to be almost two thousand years old, during which time the amphitheater has seen lavish festivals, wars, and public executions.
The amphitheater can accommodate 50,000 people. Above the seating area, there is an additional gallery of 59 arches, done in the traditional classical style. Two thousand years ago, the building was decorated with marble sculptures, which, unfortunately, have not survived. Today, the amphitheater hosts festivals and music competitions of international significance. The choice of venue for these competitions is not coincidental - the jewel of Aspendos boasts incredible acoustics.
Suitable for children
