About

The Kaleici district encompasses the entire Old Town of the resort city of Antalya and is rightfully considered the most picturesque place in the province. The area came into existence even before our era, during the times of the great Roman Empire, endless wars, and feasts.

The "official" entrance to Kaleici is the Hadrian's Gate triumphal arch, followed by a maze of narrow streets typical throughout Turkey. The locals joke that once you find yourself in the Old City, you might never find your way out - it's that beautiful and serene here, and every meter of cobblestone is imbued with Eastern magic and living myths. The Kaleici district is overflowing with miniature markets featuring carpets, souvenirs, clothing, and food. Some houses here are so ancient that they are completely covered with a green veil of ivy, through which no windows or doors can be seen.
