A fairytale garden, where a cascade of wisteria blooms drapes the air in enchantment. The tea and pastries, delicate and refined, complete the spell with their quiet delight. National Trust membership can visit for free. Chidren friendly!

A charming visit – the house feels homely, the gardens are peaceful, and the tearoom on the terrace serves lovely hot and cold food. A lovely, quieter alternative to York’s bigger attractions. We walked from the city centre via the river and knavesmire, a wonderful 1.8mile walk 👍
