Wilanów Palace in Warsaw
About
The dominant feature of the vast Wilanów Park is the palace of the same name. The construction of the building began in the late 1670s and lasted 21 years! The first owner of the palace was J. Sobieski, and after his death, the ownership changed several times, as did the appearance of the palace.
The building is a monument of architecture, reflecting Polish Baroque characteristics. It's a style that merges Polish building traditions with European art.
A significant contribution to the building's appearance was made by one of Poland's political figures, which altered the area of several rooms.
On the façades, one can still observe the decorations and sculptures of that era, and the symbolism reflects the military achievements of the king. Inside, there is now a museum which had to lose a significant part of its exhibits during World War II; however, over time, they returned to their homeland.
