About

To all those who fell in brave death while defending their homeland Poland, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was erected. In the year 1924, an event happened that forever imprinted in the memory of the people living then: a vehicle unexpectedly brought a huge slab with a cross to Saxon Square. Who became the sponsor and the main initiator remained a mystery. What matters is that there was no money in the state coffers for such a slab and the construction of the monument, and this event suddenly solved the problem. The eternal flame on the tomb has not extinguished even during the times of the Nazis, and people brought flowers despite the bans. A vigilant guard honors this remarkable place, dutifully serving through the years.
