Like many European cities, Vilnius and its outskirts are richly adorned with ancient castles and lush palaces. One of the most famous buildings is the Verkiai Palace, or Verkiai Estate, - a baroque-style representative, situated in the well-maintained Verkiai park.

The building has suffered damages many times during the battles in the 1700s - under Napoleon and the subsequent wars, with the final restoration only happening in the 19th century. Currently, the palace hosts the Institute of Botany of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, and the structure itself is a cultural and historical heritage of the country. Everything that surrounds the majestic palace - is green plantations and mysterious paths of the regional park. The attraction is definitely worth a visit, as it is a unique masterpiece of architectural thought with a history of several centuries.

Great place to walk around.

Klasycystyczny pałac położony w malowniczym parku na wzgórzu nad Wilią. Pałac pochodzi z drugiej połowy XVIII wieku. Jego pierwszym właścicielem był biskup wileński Ignacy Massalski. Obecnie w części pałacu znajduje się Instytut Botaniki Litewskiej Akademii Nauk, część zaś jest udostępniona do zwiedzania. Wnętrza zostały urządzone w stylu XIX wiecznym. Zwiedzać można m.in. piękną wielką salę. Niestety, aktualnie wnętrza pałacu są w remoncie, działa jedynie restauracja. Polecam również spacer po parku. Koniecznie należy podejść do punktu widokowego, skąd rozciąga się wspaniały widok na Wilię.
