About

Throughout its existence, Lithuania, along with many other former Soviet Union countries, has undergone incredible metamorphoses: everything has changed, from the consciousness of its people to its currency units.

The Money Museum of the Bank of Lithuania will appeal to all travelers who are keen on numismatics or simply love discovering something new: a variety of specialized equipment and engaging tours with gifts - all available without an entrance fee.

So, if you desire to enjoy a tour full of fascinating facts and personal remarks from each guide, to trace the transition from the East German mark to the Lithuanian litas, then to the Soviet ruble, followed by vouchers and finally to the euro - this is definitely the place for you. Here, every tourist is welcome, whoever they may be: the authorities hope to attract public attention to the state's economy, to provide a clear understanding of the National Bank's confidence in its own strength.

It’s a free museum and if you come with a guide it’s more informational. Otherwise you can explore by yourself as well. There are some information in English too. You can try different activities like weight yourself and compare with gold and silver in euros. It’s informative for kids as well.
