About

The Vienna Central Cemetery is one of the largest cemeteries in Europe. It opened in 1874 and has around three million graves. The cemetery also includes the St. Charles Borromeo church, where, since 1951, Austrian presidents of the Second Republic have been buried with honors. At the Central Cemetery, you will find many graves of famous deceased individuals. Today, the most visited tourist attraction is Wolfgang Mozart's tombstone. Currently, the Central Cemetery has more than 350 honorary graves and over 600 dedicated honorary graves, including those of Ludwig van Beethoven, Josef Hoffmann, Franz Schubert, Karl Zeller, and many others.
