Military history museum in Vienna
About
The Military History Museum is one of the oldest and greatest museums in the world. It tells the history of Austria's wars and the history of the imperial army from the time of the Thirty Years' War up to World War I. It was built between 1850 - 1856 by order of Emperor Franz Joseph. The building consists of five main parts: the main hall, dedicated to the memory of military commanders, and four halls for exhibitions. Additionally, bronze cannons are displayed outside the museum. The greatest collection of exhibits amazes both adults and children: the armor of medieval knights, weapons of the Ottoman Empire, portraits and personal belongings of Austrian emperors, a vast assortment of different tanks, national military uniforms, and a huge artillery collection - 550 bronze cannons.
