About

Mezaparks with its Lake Kisezers is a popular recreation spot among many residents of Riga, as well as city guests. Besides all else, Mezaparks is a prestigious housing district, where the most beautiful and expensive mansions in the capital seem to spring up like mushrooms after the rain.

Construction in the park has been constant since the distant nineteenth century. However, during the Soviet times, all the cottages were nationalized, and the process of building new structures was halted. The mansions, along with all the land, were later returned to their lucky owners, and Mezaparks itself garnered the deserved status of the most luxurious part of Riga. By the way, it is also home to the ancient Riga Zoo, which is a venerable "grandfather" among its European counterparts.
