About

An ethnographic museum, all of whose exhibits are located outdoors, can rightfully be called the guardian of Latvian customs. The decision to lay the foundation stone was made back in 1924.

The ethnography museum spans an area of 87 hectares, nestled in the natural environment among the greenery of the forest. It has over a hundred houses, astonishingly replicating the architecture of years past. Every visitor to the museum can get acquainted with the lifestyle and customs of people from a bygone era, as well as observe the development of crafts. Tired tourists are treated to local cafe dishes, prepared according to recipes miraculously preserved from inhabitants of various regions.
