About

Tucked away from the city's most popular tourist trails lies the Wilten Basilica, a gem of the Rococo era. The building boasts a festive and bright appearance, neat shapes, and elaborate decorations - its sophistication has been adorning the city since the 18th century. Adjacent to the basilica is a monastery, which, according to famous legends, was built by the giant hunter Haymon, and the complex of these buildings is complemented by a small cemetery where members of Innsbruck's noble families rest. The familiar luxury of the Baroque style is perfectly enhanced by northern elements: statues of dragons, frescoes depicting hunters, and characteristic ornaments.

Classical music concerts often take place in the Wilten Basilica - it is one of the best ways to enjoy the church's interior decor in the evening.

Mooie kerk met mooie fresco's. Leuk weetje, het voorste stuk van het plafond is recht en niet in een bol vorming als de achterzijde. Dit is een optische illusie.
