Fontanna wzniesiona została w 1630, na cześć księcia Tyrolu, arcyksięcia Leopolda V z dynastii Habsburgów. Ten zabytek jest typowym przykładem barokowego pomnika władzy. Jego centralnym elementem jest konny pomnik Leopolda V, odlany z brązu. Arcyksiążę ukazany jest w pełnym rynsztunku bojowym, z berłem i władczym gestem. Cokół jest wykonany z marmuru i ozdobiony herbami, inskrypcjami oraz symbolami habsburskiej potęgi. Całość otacza niewielki basen fontanny.
