The "Joke on a Policeman" monument was installed in the Molenbeek district back in 1985, serving as a great example of the 'jocular' culture of the outwardly strict Belgian capital.

Upon first "meeting" the sculpture, there is a distinct feeling that it replicates a scene from some popular comic book. A clumsy policeman is caught off-guard by a hooligan who suddenly emerges from a manhole and grabs the law enforcer by the leg. The "Joke on a Policeman" was created by the renowned sculptor Tom Franzen, who also gained fame with another one of his works - the "Peeing Dog".
