The phrase "Black Tower" evokes mysterious and mystical associations, which only intensify after getting a closer look. The structure was completely destroyed at the end of the seventeenth century, reconstructed, and later saved from recurring ruin by the famous mayor of Brussels, Charles Buls.

The Black Tower is located behind the Church of Saint Catherine, is semi-circular in shape, and has a gabled roof. The lower part of the building is partly overgrown with ivy, adding an unexplainable sense of mystery, as if Merlin himself once lived here. The walls of the first floor feature narrow and tall openings, while on the second, there are battlements with cornices. The Black Tower is considered an important architectural monument of the capital and is under constant surveillance.

Our tour guide showed us this medieval tower in central Brussels. He explained how they moved all the other parts and used them to build the city however this part remained preserved to show the historical side of the city. He also mentioned that it's currently used as a storage unit by the government.
